Biography

Anne T. Donnelly is the 17th District Attorney of Nassau County, elected in November 2021. She is the fourth consecutive woman to hold the office, succeeding Madeline Singas. Donnelly spent 32 years as a career prosecutor in the Nassau County DA's Office before her election, rising to the rank of Deputy Bureau Chief. During her career, she prosecuted a wide range of cases including homicides, sex crimes, and public corruption. As DA, she has prioritized fighting gang violence, combating retail theft, addressing the fentanyl crisis, and establishing a dedicated elder fraud unit. She has been an outspoken critic of New York's bail reform laws and has advocated for changes to give judges more discretion in setting bail. Her office handles approximately 30,000 cases annually.
