Biography

Raymond A. Tierney is the Suffolk County District Attorney, elected in November 2021 and taking office in January 2022. Before his election, Tierney was a federal prosecutor serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of New York for over a decade, where he focused on gang violence, drug trafficking, and public corruption cases. He successfully prosecuted members of the MS-13 gang and led the investigation into the NXIVM cult. As District Attorney, he has focused on combating gang violence, drug trafficking, and quality-of-life crimes across Suffolk County. He has been a vocal advocate for reforming New York's discovery and bail laws. His office has expanded outreach programs to at-risk youth and strengthened partnerships with local law enforcement agencies.
