Biography
Laura Gillen is a U.S. Representative for New York's 4th Congressional District, first elected in November 2024. Born and raised on Long Island, she earned her B.A. from New York University and her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. Gillen made history in 2017 when she was elected as the first Democratic Town Supervisor of Hempstead in over a century, overseeing America's largest township. As supervisor, she focused on transparency, cutting wasteful spending, and improving town services. In Congress, she serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Her priorities include fighting for lower costs, protecting Social Security and Medicare, addressing the housing affordability crisis, and restoring the full SALT deduction for Long Island homeowners. Her district office in Garden City serves central and southern Nassau County.
