Biography

Senator Jack M. Martins represents the 7th Senate District in northern Nassau County, covering communities including Mineola, Williston Park, New Hyde Park, Manhasset, Great Neck, and Roslyn. An attorney and former Mayor of Mineola (2006-2011), Martins first served in the State Senate from 2011 to 2016. He was re-elected to the Senate in 2022. Born in Mineola to Portuguese immigrant parents, he graduated from Chaminade High School, earned his B.A. from Hofstra University, and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. As Senator, he has focused on combating the opioid epidemic, supporting small businesses, protecting homeowners from rising taxes, and fighting for local school funding. He has been a vocal opponent of congestion pricing and MTA fare increases.
